Job Summary
We are currently seeking reliable and safety-focused Fire Watch personnel to support shipyard operations. This position plays a critical role in preventing fire hazards by monitoring hot work activities and ensuring immediate response to potential safety risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor hot work operations (welding, cutting, grinding) to prevent fire hazards
- Maintain constant surveillance of assigned work areas
- Identify and eliminate fire risks before, during, and after hot work
- Ensure proper placement and readiness of fire extinguishers and safety equipment
- Remain on watch during operations and for required post-work fire watch periods
- Communicate immediately with supervisors in case of unsafe conditions
- Enforce safety standards and shipyard procedures at all times
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of watch activities
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Fire Watch in a shipyard or industrial environment (preferred)
- Strong understanding of hot work safety procedures
- Ability to stay alert and attentive for extended periods
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-driven mindset
- Ability to follow strict instructions and protocols
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 Maritime or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience working in shipyards such as NASSCO, BAE Systems, or similar
- Knowledge of NAVSEA or shipyard safety standards
Work Environment
- Shipyard / industrial setting
- Exposure to heat, noise, and confined spaces
- Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors
