Job Overview
We are seeking dependable and hardworking General Laborers to support shipyard and industrial operations. This role involves assisting skilled trades, maintaining clean and safe work environments, and performing a variety of physical tasks including painting support, cleaning, and basic scaffolding assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled trades such as welders, pipefitters, painters, and electricians
- Perform general material handling, loading, unloading, and transport of tools and equipment
- Support surface preparation, including cleaning, sanding, and masking for painting operations
- Assist painting crews with setup, cleanup, and basic application support as directed
- Perform industrial cleaning of work areas, machinery, and ship compartments
- Assist in basic scaffolding (scaffold) setup, relocation, and dismantling under supervision
- Operate basic hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas
- Follow all safety procedures and supervisor instructions at all times
Requirements
- Previous experience in construction, shipyard, or industrial labor preferred
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and outdoor environments
- Ability to lift heavy materials and perform repetitive physical work
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork mindset
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain safety compliance
Preferred Certifications
- OSHA 10 Maritime (preferred but not required)
- Basic scaffolding or industrial safety training (a plus)
- Confined space awareness (preferred)
Work Environment
- Shipyard, dry dock, and industrial facilities
- Exposure to heights, confined spaces, noise, dust, and varying weather conditions
- Physically demanding role requiring standing, lifting, bending, and climbing
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and PPE requirements
